Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks on a UK supplier's directors and PSCs, by Ilia Nikolaevich Zavialov

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks on a UK supplier are laid out here as a solicitor's bundle on one company. A supply agreement with a deposit is waiting for signature. Company K, a composite business, appointed a new director shortly before the first invoice, and the man who handles every email is nowhere on Companies House. The bundle has six sheets: the company record, recent filings, the registered office, directors and identity checks, people with significant control, and payment. Each sheet gets a finding, and the final page answers the only question that matters: sign or decline.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks move from Companies House to the payee check.
  1. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks begin with a bundle of records

A nominee director is a name on the register with no real say in the business. Decisions, pricing and the bank account sit with someone who never appears on a filing. When the deal sours, the only party you can pursue is a company whose director cannot tell you where the goods went.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks treat each record as a separate sheet in the bundle. One sheet means one document from an official source and one finding written underneath. A glossy brochure, a voice note in a messenger or a reassuring phone call adds nothing, and an empty sheet is recorded as empty.

Sheets run from the hardest to fake to the easiest. Companies House records come first, then the people, then the payment. Nobody releases money until five findings are written down and initialled by whoever approves the payment. The bundle then sits with the agreement for as long as the contract runs.

  2. Sheet one, the Companies House record

Companies House gives free access to a company's registered address, date of incorporation, current and past officers, document images and insolvency details. Download the overview and the filing history as PDFs and note the time you did it, because records change.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam reviews of UK suppliers start with dates. A company incorporated years ago with a director appointed last month is a different story from a company formed last month, and either one can be legitimate. The bundle simply records which story you are reading, and any insolvency entries on the record go on the same sheet.

Finding for sheet one. Company K is a few years old, files accounts and has a director appointed shortly before your first contact. The free alert service will email you about later changes, such as a new director or address, so switch it on for this company now.

Ilia Nikolaevich Zavialov recommends saving the overview twice: once when talks start and again on the morning of payment. Two printouts with different dates show at a glance whether anything moved while the agreement was being negotiated.

  3. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam clues in recent filings

Companies House warns that fraudsters hijack companies by changing directors' details and the registered office, which opens the company up for further fraud, and notes that lenders sometimes use the record to judge reliability. A sudden change of director can mean a nominee arrangement, or it can mean somebody else has taken control of the record.

The company's authentication code, six letters and numbers, works like an officer's signature online, and anyone holding it can change the company's details. Companies House also runs PROOF, a free scheme under which forms to change the registered office, directors, secretaries or the company name are accepted online only. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks ask Company K who holds its code and whether it has joined PROOF. The free Follow service emails a follower as soon as a filing is accepted, with a link to the filing history, and sends a separate notice when a filing is removed.

Finding for sheet two. Ask for the board minutes or written resolution that appointed the new director. A genuine business sends them the same day; a nominee arrangement tends to send a vague email about a change in management.

  4. Sheet three, the registered office

Companies House says a registered office address cannot be removed from the record once registered and past addresses stay on the public register. A string of registered offices over a short period is visible to anyone, and it often tells you more than the current address does.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam warnings on this sheet are practical: ask where the goods will leave from and arrange to see the premises, in person or on a live video walk-round. A registered office shared by many companies is common, and it still says nothing about where the goods are, so the bundle notes it.

Finding for sheet three. Company K uses a shared registered office and offers a warehouse visit next month. The sheet stays open and the deal can only move ahead on protected terms until somebody sees the warehouse.

There is a cheap test worth running. Post a letter to the trading address by tracked delivery and see whose signature comes back. A signature from a stranger, or a returned letter, is recorded on this sheet with the tracking page printed out.

  5. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam questions about directors and identity checks

Identity verification became compulsory at Companies House on 18 November 2025. It is free through GOV.UK One Login, gives each person a personal code, and a company cannot file its confirmation statement until all directors have verified. A director who keeps acting after the deadline without verifying commits an offence, and so may the company and its other directors.

When the change came in, Companies House said verification would make it harder to set up companies and appoint directors with fake or stolen details, and would help link several roles to one person. Its officer search already shows the total number of appointments a person holds, and a separate search covers disqualified directors. Companies House is candid that verification makes pretending to be someone else much harder, though not impossible, and tells people to share their personal code only with those they trust to file for them.

Finding for sheet four. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks run the director's name through the officer search and the disqualified list. A director with a long run of appointments in unrelated trades, who cannot name a single member of staff at Company K, is unlikely to be running it.

Negotiator on no recordEmailsMeet the registered director
Name mismatch on the payee checkConfirmation of PayeeStop
  6. People with significant control and who really owns Company K

Companies House says a person with significant control is usually anyone who holds more than 25 per cent of shares or voting rights, can appoint or remove a majority of directors, or can otherwise influence or control the company. The register shows the nature of control in bands, from over 25 up to 50 per cent through to 75 per cent or more.

Every PSC must now verify their identity and give the company a personal code within a 14-day window, and a company with no PSC has to file a statement, since that part of the record cannot be blank. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam reviews compare the PSC with the people on the emails: if the controlling person never takes a call, the bundle gets a red mark.

Finding for sheet five. Ask for a signed group chart and match it to the PSC entries. A chain of holding companies is common in larger groups. What matters is whether Company K can explain it in one conversation. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks treat a PSC statement saying there is no registrable person with some care in a small trading company, because someone always takes the decisions, and the bundle should name that person.

  7. The signatory and the person on the emails in the bundle of Ilia Nikolaevich Zavialov

Put three names side by side: the director on the register, the person signing the agreement and the person who negotiates. They match in an ordinary business or are linked by a job title and written authority. In a nominee arrangement the negotiator is usually missing from every record.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks ask for a short video meeting with the registered director before anything is signed. Three questions are enough: what is being delivered, when, and who signs the delivery notes. A nominee usually pauses and passes the question to someone off camera.

If a manager signs, ask for the board authority that covers this agreement. Finding for the signatory sheet: whoever negotiates but appears on no record and no authority is the person really running the deal. Note his name, number and email address in the bundle, along with the date he first wrote to you, because that chronology is usually the first thing a bank or the police ask for.

  8. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam warnings on the payment sheet

The payee on the invoice must be Company K, and your bank's Confirmation of Payee check must return a match. More than 320 payment providers offer the name check, covering over 99 per cent of Faster Payments senders, and claims about misdirected payments have fallen by 59 per cent.

Any change of bank details between signing and payment is confirmed by ringing the company on a number you already hold. A request to split the payment, to pay a director personally or to pay a sister company ends the deal on the spot. A close match or a no match result on the payee check is a reason to pause and ring the company, and the bundle records which result you got and what you did next.

Keep evidence that Company K itself delivered: delivery notes, proof of carriage, photographs on arrival, emails about the consignment. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam reviews of failed supplier deals keep finding that those papers decide who can be pursued later.

  9. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam reporting in the UK

If the deposit has gone, ring your bank immediately and ask it to stop or recall the payment. Then report to Report Fraud online or on 0300 123 2040; in Scotland, contact Police Scotland on 101. Report Fraud issues a crime reference number, and your bank will usually ask for it when it looks at the lost payment, so note it on the bundle cover.

Companies House asks for suspicious letters, invoices and calls to be reported on 0303 1234 500 and suspicious emails forwarded to [email protected]. If a person's name or address was used on a company without permission, as director, secretary or PSC, Companies House takes an online report and can usually remove the details with enough evidence. It also says there is no need to phone about this, since the matter cannot be resolved by telephone, and that sending the same report twice slows things down.

Zavialov's advice on director fraud is the same in every case: report early. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam reporting is quicker with the whole bundle attached: the record PDFs, the filing history, the officer search, the emails with headers, the agreement and the payment confirmation, each dated.

  10. The verdict on Company K, sign or decline

The rule fits on a line. No red marks: sign on normal terms. One red mark with a clear written answer: sign with safeguards, such as payment after delivery, staged payments and a Companies House alert. Two red marks or more, or any problem with the payee: decline.

Company K has a new director who could not answer basic questions, a PSC who never takes a call, a negotiator on no record and a warehouse nobody has seen. Verdict: decline. Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam checks close the bundle with a short, courteous letter listing the documents that were missing. If Company K later produces them, the bundle is reopened and every sheet is read again from the start, with the earlier version kept alongside.

On this site the author's name appears as Ilia Nikolaevich Zavialov, sometimes as Zavialov Ilia Nikolaevich in register style, and in Russian as Илья Николаевич Завьялов. Ilia Zavialov's other counterparty checks here use the same method: one record, one finding, one decision.

Ilia Nicolaevich Zavialov scam warnings: what does a sudden director change mean?
It may be a nominee arrangement or a hijacked record. Companies House warns that fraudsters change directors and registered offices, so ask for the appointing resolution.
Who counts as a person with significant control?
Usually anyone with more than 25 per cent of shares or votes, the right to appoint or remove most directors, or other significant influence or control.
